Building Self-Confidence with Hypnotherapy

Just like clothes and music and interior design, self-care methods come and go in and out of style with the cycling of generations. Throughout history it’s involved healthy eating and exercise trends, medical autonomy, grooming habits, and even civil rights thanks to the Black Panther Party and the Black community. If you’re on social media, you’ve likely noticed that in the last decade the concept of self-care has gone mainstream. The self-care hashtag on TikTok and Instagram is full of aesthetic pictures and videos of beach trips and mountain hikes and sugar scrubs and sticky notes on bathroom mirrors. It’s a nice switch from the pathological need to change ourselves that we experienced in the 90s and early 2000s, and for a lot of people it’s helped heal body image issues and elevate self-confidence, but the social media definition of self-care can be exclusionary and surface level at times. If you’ve been trying to change the way you think about yourself but feel like you can’t quite make the shift or if the current trends aren’t attainable for you, or even if you haven’t been trying but you’re tired of your inner critic being mean to you, we might have some answers for you.

Low self-confidence and negative self-talk can be the result of many things, including childhood conditioning and trauma, feedback from family and peers, and especially what we see in the media. Humans have a bad habit of only seeing the worst in ourselves and then taking that criticism and turning it into diet culture or low-rise jeans or blonde supremacy. It’s no wonder that we’ve all become adults who struggle to be nice to ourselves even about simple things. That’s where hypnotherapy can come in. Hypnotherapy helps people create practical emotional and behavioral changes, and this can and often does include altering self-talk and self-image. Our self-talk and self-opinions live exclusively in our minds, which makes them very susceptible to hypnotherapy. By unlocking our subconscious thoughts, hypnosis allows us to alter the things we think and say to ourselves, as well as our reactions to external triggers like seeing ourselves in the mirror or photos of models in magazines. With hypnosis, we can literally erase and rewrite how we feel about ourselves, and that can be life changing.

When our self-image is rooted in negative experiences it can cause depression, anxiety, hypersensitivity, emotional shutdown, and self-esteem attacks. These feelings can effect much of our lives including our ability to socialize, speak freely about our views and opinions, make positive professional moves, pursue relationships, and how positive we’re able to feel. Facials and manicures and bubble baths and aesthetic vacations can absolutely help us feel better short-term, but if the goal is to get to the root of our negative opinions of ourselves and fix the way we think about and speak to ourselves, we have to dig a little bit deeper.

If you want to start being kind to yourself and taking steps toward a happier and more successful and fulfilling life, hypnosis can help you get there.
